A native of Baltimore, MD and a graduate of the Maryland Institute of Art (now the Maryland Institute College of Art, or MICA), Annette Singer began her art career in the competitive field of fashion illustration. Her art proceeded from pen and ink drawings and watercolor to pastels, linocut printmaking, and acrylics. She was a member of the Maryland Federation of Art in Annapolis, MD, the Maryland Art League in Baltimore, and was accepted into the National League of American Pen Women.
Moving to Florida in 1976, Singer was painting almost exclusively in acrylics and became a member of the North Palm Beaches Art Society, the Lighthouse Gallery Selected Artist Group of Tequesta, the Artists Guild of the Norton Gallery in West Palm Beach, and the Delray Beach Art League.
Since 2003, her year-round home has been in Newton, Massachusetts, where she continues to paint the beauty that surrounds us. She became a member of the Newton and the Needham Art Societies. Her work has been shown in numerous judged and juried shows and has won many prizes. Her paintings, graphics, and pastels are included in private collections both locally and across the United States.
Singer is now a member of the Maryland Institute College of Art's Master Guild.
